Asia Week Ahead: Watch China bank results for loser loans
REPORTER, TARA JOSEPH, SAYING:
"China company earnings will be closely watched this week ahead, with big banks among those in the spotlight."
Agricultural Bank of China reports on Tuesday.
Results at the nation's third largest lender will be inspected for any increase in rising non-performing loans.
Earnings from China's largest bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, on Thursday will also be worth analyzing for details on how a record share-sale plan could affect the lender's profits.
On Thursday, Malaysia's troubled national airline carrier is finally set to post its results, after delaying its initial second quarter announcement.
Expect them to be the company's last before the firm is delisted and restructured after the devastating loss of two Boeing triple-7s earlier this year.
Also on Thursday, the latest retail sales data from Hong Kong.
Expect more pain for the Chinese shopping hub, as visiting China mainland tourists rein in decadent spending both at home and abroad.
Finally it will be a data extravaganza in Japan on Friday -- a host of economic releases will show whether Abenomics is getting back on track after a contraction in economic growth in the second quarter.
